Hi, I'm the founder of Set yourself free. I'm a passionate unisex hair stylist who loves helping people express themselves through their hair.

I work with all hair types and enjoy creating a wide variety of styles- from everyday cuts to special occasion looks, colour treatments, protective styles, and hair care solutions 

My goal is simple: to help every client leave feeling confident, refreshed, and free to be themselves.

Alongside hairstyling, I also sell quality hair products that help maintain health, beautiful hair between appointments.

My History

I started my hairdressing journey at school, where I completed my Level 1 NVQ over two years. After leaving school, I went on to Burton and South Derbyshire College to begin my Level 2 NVQ, which was also a two-year course. While studying, I completed an apprenticeship at Ivanhoe Hair Studio in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, where I finished my Level 2 qualification and gained valuable hands-on salon experience.

As my confidence and experience grew, I moved on to work in a salon in Burton upon Trent, close to the town centre. This role gave me the opportunity to develop my skills in wedding hair, wedding events, hair colouring techniques, and general cutting. During this time, I also travelled to different places around the UK, including Manchester, Newton Solney, Ashbourne, Rolleston-on-Dove, Repton, Swadlincote, Sutton-in-Ashfield, and Chesterfield, where I attended and took part in hair shows. These experiences helped me broaden my knowledge of the industry and build my confidence in a range of settings.

I have also shared my skills by teaching hairdressing to young students and apprentices. Alongside my practical work, I have continued to invest in professional development. I completed a Wahl Professional Clippers course focused on modern gents’ haircuts, which introduced me to new techniques and styling approaches. I have also attended GHD and Paul Mitchell courses to strengthen my skills in styling, dressing, and colouring hair. After working in a salon for a few years, I returned to college in 2006 to study more advanced hair techniques, colouring, hair-up styling, and business studies over 18 months.

I have now been working in hairdressing for 18 years, and I still have the same passion for the industry as when I first started. In 2018, I began working independently while also building up a regular client base alongside another job. Over the years, I have developed a wide range of specialisms, including gents’ hair, ladies’ hair, children’s hair, colouring, hair-up styles, wedding hair, special occasion styling, and hair treatments. I have also designed my own range of hair products, including shampoo, conditioner, serums, deep hair masks, and custom repair leave-in treatments. These products were created from my own interest in finding better solutions for haircare and are based on science-led, vegan formulas made with naturally derived ingredients to suit different hair needs.
